Base Salary

$105k - $149k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, integrate, test, demonstrate, and maintain embedded software applications for locomotive control products.
  • Develop software in C and C++ for embedded systems using RTOS and bare-metal environments.
  • Integrate next-generation platforms with LOCOTROL RCS products.
  • Implement software from requirements analysis through production and commercial deployment.
  • Maintain and enhance software in existing embedded products and systems.
  • Collaborate with business-unit and engineering teams to meet product specifications and system interface requirements.
  • Design and execute software tests, participate in code and design reviews, and improve performance and reliability.
  • Interact with customers and partners during technical discussions across development and deployment.
  • Develop software design, requirements, and architecture documentation.
  • Provide technical mentoring to junior software engineers as needed.
  • Travel approximately 10% of the time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • At least 15 years of embedded software development experience in RTOS and bare-metal environments.
  • Experience writing multiprocess and multithreaded programs using C or C++.
  • Experience with embedded platforms, including ColdFire, ARM, and/or PowerPC processors.
  • Experience with DDS, Yocto, C++23, CMake, GTest, DOORS Next, Visual Studio, Dev Containers, GitLab, and GitLab CI.
  • Experience with communication protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, RS232/RS422, HDLC, SPI, I2C, and CAN.
  • Experience with embedded RTOS, including Green Hills INTEGRITY.
  • Experience with SVN or Git and software analysis tools such as Klocwork, Understand, and PC-Lint.
  • Experience with software unit-testing tools such as VectorCAST.
  • Experience designing high-reliability, safety-critical, redundant, and fail-safe products.
  • Knowledge of software design methods, architectural approaches, data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
  • Experience with industry standards including IEC 61508, DO-178B, and Cenelec-50128.
  • Experience working in automated and CI environments and Agile development environments using Scrum and/or Kanban.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 10% of the time.
