Responsibilities
- Analyze complex business requirements and design technical specifications for computer platforms and applications.
- Develop complex original COBOL code and provide coding direction to less experienced staff.
- Serve as a technical resource and subject matter expert in IBM mainframe COBOL architecture.
- Optimize batch job streams, JCL, and scheduling dependencies to improve throughput and processing windows.
- Oversee testing, debugging, systems migration, and production deployment.
- Provide production support, root cause analysis, incident resolution, and code defect remediation.
- Support legacy code assessment, refactoring, modernization planning, documentation, and user-guide development.
- Ensure quality, security, compliance, and business-continuation requirements are met.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of COBOL programming experience, including recent IBM mainframe COBOL application development within the past year.
- Technical expertise with IBM mainframe application development environments, including z/OS, VSAM, CICS, and DB2.
- Proficiency in ISPF, COBOL, CICS, VSAM, JCL, DB2, and IBM utilities.
- Experience with job scheduling tools and RACF or equivalent mainframe security frameworks is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Preferred Secret clearance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to complete pre-employment screening.
