Responsibilities

  • Design and implement end-to-end cnBNG solution testing across control plane, user plane, subscriber management, forwarding, platform infrastructure, and external network elements.
  • Own subscriber-scale, session-churn, throughput, latency, packet-loss, convergence, resource-utilization, performance, stress, longevity, capacity, and resiliency qualification.
  • Design realistic broadband network topologies and traffic profiles covering IPv4/IPv6, QoS, subscriber protocols, service policies, and customer workloads.
  • Use Keysight IXIA and Spirent platforms for subscriber emulation, protocol emulation, traffic generation, traffic analysis, benchmarking, and large-scale execution.
  • Validate CUPS control-plane/user-plane separation, state synchronization, failure recovery, high availability, ISSU, NSR/NSF, and subscriber session continuity.
  • Validate IOS-XR forwarding, MPLS/L3VPN, QoS, ACLs, mirroring, OAM/BFD, slowpath, and NPU behavior.
  • Develop reusable Python test automation with pyATS/Genie or equivalent frameworks and integrate it into CI/CD and regression pipelines.
  • Analyze performance trends and isolate root causes across software, forwarding hardware, NPUs, CPUs, memory, traffic generators, automation, and external network components.
  • Debug issues using logs, traces, telemetry, packet captures, core dumps, traffic-generator statistics, and platform diagnostics.
  • Define test exit criteria and provide evidence-based release-quality and readiness recommendations.
  • Collaborate with development, platform, architecture, and customer-facing engineering teams to reproduce and resolve defects.
  • Use Git and approved AI coding assistants for automation development, test generation, log analysis, failure clustering, and troubleshooting.
  • Mentor junior engineers and improve testing methodology, automation architecture, scale infrastructure, and engineering quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in system, solution, scale, performance, and resiliency testing of networking products or carrier-grade networking solutions.
  • Hands-on expertise with Keysight IXIA and/or Spirent traffic-generation platforms, including protocol emulation, subscriber emulation, scale testing, and performance analysis.
  • Strong Python programming and scalable test-automation experience using pyATS/Genie or equivalent frameworks.
  • Experience integrating automated test suites into CI/CD and continuous regression pipelines.

  • Knowledge of PPPoE, IPoE, DHCPv4/v6, PPP, RADIUS/CoA, and L2TP broadband and subscriber technologies.
  • Experience configuring, validating, and troubleshooting IOS-XR or another carrier-grade network operating system.
  • Ability to design large-scale network topologies and characterize capacity, throughput, latency, convergence, resource utilization, and failure recovery.
  • Strong understanding of high availability, subscriber-state management, duplication, and fault-recovery mechanisms.
  • Strong Linux skills and experience with Git, debugging tools, packet collection, logs, telemetry, and defect-management systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills across traffic generators, protocols, software, hardware, and forwarding layers.
  • AI-assisted engineering experience using tools such as GitHub Copilot, generative AI, AI agents, MCP, reusable AI skills, prompt/context management, and responsible output validation.
