Responsibilities
- Drive the technical vision for the Product Eligibility domain within an autonomous engineering team.
- Build and maintain platform capabilities supporting Wise’s transfer, payout, partner integration, and product eligibility workflows.
- Overhaul how customer residence, present location, and address information are captured and validated.
- Contribute to back-office tooling and episodically to customer-facing product flows.
- Design, deploy, and maintain distributed backend systems and RESTful APIs.
- Design database schemas, optimize queries, write testable code, and participate in code reviews.
Requirements
- Experience working with large-scale distributed systems.
- Knowledge of Java 8 or later.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, query optimization, and schema design.
- Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining RESTful APIs.
- Commitment to coding best practices, code reviews, open feedback, and testable code.
- Nice to have: experience with Spring Boot, Kafka, and Backend-for-Frontends (BFFs).
Benefits
- Starting salary of £68,000–£87,500 per year.
- Hybrid work arrangement; the team operates across London and Cherkasy offices.
- Applicants must already be based in the UK or able to work from the UK; relocation is not supported.
