Responsibilities
- Write production software with meaningful impact to Stripe.
- Participate in code reviews and design discussions by giving and receiving technical feedback.
- Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to seek and incorporate feedback.
- Learn unfamiliar systems and communicate work status clearly with the intern manager and teammates.
Requirements
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Some programming experience through side projects or classwork; Stripe primarily uses Java, Ruby, JavaScript, Scala, and Go.
- Experience from previous internships or multi-person projects, including open source contributions, demonstrating the ability to evaluate and receive feedback.
- Ability to learn unfamiliar systems through independent research and mentorship.
- At least two years of university education or equivalent work experience is preferred.
- Specialized knowledge in an area such as frontend technologies, along with general understanding of how services handle HTTP requests, is preferred.
- Familiarity with writing high-quality pull requests, maintaining good test coverage, navigating new codebases, and working with multiple languages is preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly about work to stakeholders, teammates, and other Stripes is preferred.
