Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate backend services supporting control planes, user access management, backup workflows, and other platform capabilities.
- Own features and backend components from implementation through production operation.
- Contribute to service design and API development while balancing correctness, scalability, cost, and maintainability.
- Write and review production-quality code and diagnose and resolve complex backend issues.
- Improve services based on operational signals, real-world usage, and customer feedback.
- Participate in on-call and operational responsibilities and help ensure production readiness.
- Collaborate with Product, quality assurance, infrastructure, customer-facing, and other engineering teams.
- Mentor junior engineers and reinforce backend reliability, scalability, and code-quality practices.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience, including ownership of features or components through production operation.
- Experience building, operating, diagnosing, and improving non-trivial production systems.
- Ability to translate loosely defined requirements into maintainable technical solutions and make sound trade-offs.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language: Go, Python, Java, or Rust, with Go preferred.
- Experience owning a component or subsystem within a larger backend or cloud-native platform is preferred.
- Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure and cloud-native design patterns is preferred.
- Experience with data-intensive systems, object storage, or large-scale backend services is preferred.
- Exposure to backup, disaster recovery, or data protection systems in production is preferred.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
