Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural evolution of the Coupa Supplier Platform and determine the sequence and rationale for major system changes.
- Define and implement patterns for API design, microservice boundaries, deployment pipelines, monitoring, and reliability.
- Mentor engineers, guide technical decisions, review architecture and code, and help build a high-performing team.
- Participate in the Architectural Steering Group and share architectural practices with Principal Engineers across Coupa.
- Partner with SRE on cloud-native infrastructure, containers, infrastructure-as-code, and multi-cloud capabilities.
- Own security, multi-tenancy isolation, data governance, and compliance across regions.
- Collaborate with product, design, and business teams to build scalable supplier workflow systems.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience building B2B SaaS at scale, including leadership and architectural responsibilities.
- Demonstrated experience evolving legacy systems into microservices in production while maintaining uptime.
- Deep knowledge of API-driven services, multi-tenant architectures, and B2B integration patterns serving millions of users.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud providers such as AWS or GCP.
- Comfort working across Rails, Golang, and Java and selecting technologies based on business and technical needs.
- A track record of mentoring teams, providing technical direction, and remaining hands-on without becoming a bottleneck.
- Strong judgment balancing scale, performance, technical debt, and feature delivery.
- Strong communication and consensus-building skills across engineering, product, and business teams.
