Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural evolution of the Coupa Supplier Platform and define the sequence and rationale for major changes.
- Establish and implement patterns for API design, microservice boundaries, deployment pipelines, monitoring, and reliability.
- Mentor engineers, guide technical decisions, review architecture and code, and help build a high-performing team.
- Participate in Coupa’s Architectural Steering Group and share architectural learnings with Principal Engineers.
- Partner with SRE on cloud-native infrastructure, CI/CD, containers, infrastructure-as-code, and multi-cloud capabilities.
- Own security, multi-tenancy isolation, data governance, and compliance across all regions.
- Collaborate with product, design, and business teams to create scalable supplier workflow systems.
Requirements
- 15+ years building B2B SaaS at scale in leadership and architectural roles.
- Production experience evolving legacy systems into microservices while maintaining uptime for users.
- Deep knowledge of API-driven services, multi-tenant architectures, and B2B integration patterns for millions of users.
- Experience with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud providers such as AWS or GCP.
- Technical comfort across Rails, Golang, and Java, with sound judgment in selecting technologies.
- Track record of mentoring teams and providing technical direction without micromanaging.
- Ability to balance scale, performance, technical debt, and feature delivery.
- Strong communication skills across engineering, product, and business teams.
