Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain test infrastructure, fault-injection frameworks, and annunciation mechanisms for in-the-loop testing.
- Build and maintain software-, hardware-, and aircraft-in-the-loop simulation infrastructure, including scenario runners, simulated peripherals, and mode configurations.
- Bring up, debug, and maintain physical HITL rigs while keeping their hardware and configuration aligned with real aircraft.
- Build hardware CI pipelines that deploy flight software to rig hardware and automatically run pass/fail, timing, and platform-log checks.
- Write and maintain Bazel-based C++ and Python scenario, unit, and property-based tests for realistic sensor, actuator, timing, and network conditions.
- Integrate sensors and actuators over CAN, UART/RS-485, I2C, SPI, ARINC 429, and Ethernet.
- Triage rig and CI failures, distinguish simulation, hardware, and flight-software issues, and drive reproducible fixes to the appropriate owners.
- Convert observed flight behavior into repeatable in-the-loop scenarios with flight-test and controls engineers.
Requirements
- A university degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or a similar field, or a strong embedded/test-automation software portfolio with 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong C++ and Python skills and fluency with Git.
- Experience building or maintaining hardware-in-the-loop or comparable automated test infrastructure that runs real embedded hardware in CI.
- Working knowledge of embedded communication buses, including CAN, UART/RS-485, I2C, SPI, or similar, sufficient to debug them with a scope or logic analyzer.
- Understanding of real-time and safety-critical software concepts, including deterministic fixed-rate execution, timing budgets, redundancy, and trustworthy testing.
- Experience with a hermetic build system such as Bazel and a CI system such as Buildkite, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
- Experience with Linux, including remote deployment and debugging on embedded Linux targets.
- Ability and interest to develop clean, maintainable object-oriented software architecture.
- Must qualify as a US Person under 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 for US export-control compliance.
- Property-based testing experience is desired.
- Experience with DDS, ROS 2, or custom pub/sub/message-bus middleware is desired.
- Hands-on experience with servos, motor controllers, or other actuators on serial or CAN buses is desired.
- Experience designing or reviewing simple electrical hardware such as PCBs, harnesses, or breakout boards is desired.
- Experience analyzing flight or test log data at scale using SQL, Databricks, or similar is desired.
- Rust experience and aerospace, automotive, or robotics safety-critical industry experience are desired.

- Target base pay is $136,100-$202,600 per year, plus Restricted Stock Units.
