Responsibilities
- Lead full-stack design and development across responsive front-end interfaces, APIs, services, and analytics data layers.
- Set architecture and technical standards for scalable, secure, high-performance AWS analytics solutions.
- Identify and lead opportunities to embed predictive models, agentic AI, natural-language interfaces, automated insights, and generative AI into analytics products.
- Partner with data scientists to move machine learning models from prototypes into reliable production services.
- Design and maintain ETL processes and data pipelines using cloud data services including S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, and Athena.
- Support data governance, data quality, healthcare data handling, and compliance standards.
- Write and review code while establishing engineering practices, code quality standards, and delivery processes.
- Lead, support, and mentor engineers and provide career development guidance.
- Communicate technical decisions, progress, risks, and tradeoffs to product leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience, including full-stack development across front-end and back-end technologies.
- At least 3 years of experience leading or mentoring engineers, formally or informally.
- Production experience applying AI or machine learning in analytics or data products, such as predictive modeling, recommendation systems, or generative AI features.
- Strong front-end development skills with TypeScript, JavaScript, and React.
- Strong back-end skills with Python and an equivalent language for analytics and API development.
- Strong understanding of relational databases and SQL.
- Working knowledge of AWS services including Lambda, IAM, S3, Redshift, Glue, and Athena.
- Experience with infrastructure as code using AWS CloudFormation and the AWS CDK.
- Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
- Experience delivering software using Agile methodologies and communicating technical tradeoffs to nontechnical stakeholders.
- Preferred qualifications include healthcare interoperability experience with ANSI X12, HL7, or FHIR; healthcare claims or healthcare or higher education analytics experience; large language models, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, vector databases, and MLOps experience; SQLAlchemy and PostgreSQL; Amazon RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Snowflake, Spark, Terraform, Azure DevOps, and additional AWS services; and an AWS certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
