Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain backend services, APIs, and databases for the scientific discovery platform.
- Contribute to frontend features and workflows in partnership with designers and frontend engineers.
- Build and extend data pipelines supporting AI agents and research workflows.
- Implement monitoring, observability, automated testing, and other improvements for reliability and uptime.
- Troubleshoot issues across the stack and proactively improve system quality.
- Collaborate with engineering, design, and research teams to ship AI-driven features and services.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software engineering experience with exposure to backend and frontend development.
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend language such as Python or Node.js; Python is required for the interview process.
- Experience designing and consuming APIs, including FastAPI; GraphQL experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with frontend frameworks such as React and Next.js or similar technologies.
- Working knowledge of relational or document databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
- Exposure to AWS, GCP, or Azure and containerized environments using Docker; Kubernetes is a plus.
- Experience with version control, CI/CD pipelines, and basic automated testing.
- Curiosity, eagerness to learn, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-moving environment.
- Bonus qualifications include experience with data-heavy systems, scientific tooling, ML/AI-adjacent platforms, startups, or small teams with end-to-end ownership.
