Responsibilities
- Own the development of large software projects and drive initiatives that improve team effectiveness
- Design, implement, debug, and fix well-tested and documented software
- Lead engineering processes through code and architectural reviews
- Write specifications, identify risks, reduce complexity, and communicate with stakeholders
- Deploy and operate services developed by the team
- Improve engineering and operations practices and contribute to technical documentation
- Represent the team as a subject matter expert and provide technical advocacy
- Mentor and develop fellow engineers while taking technical lead responsibility for initiatives
Requirements
- Exceptional academic track record from high school and university
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or a compelling narrative about an alternative path
- Experience with Linux, with Debian or Ubuntu preferred
- Ability to design architectural approaches aligned with business objectives and provide comprehensive code reviews
- Strong research, software quality, accessibility, performance, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Professional written and spoken English
- Experience with LXD, Docker, and Kubernetes is desirable
- Experience with REST API design, development, and governance is desirable
- Performance engineering and security experience is desirable
- Ability to travel twice a year for company events lasting up to two weeks each
