Base Salary

$160k - $185k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Write, own, and ship production backend services and control frameworks for operating and calibrating neutral-atom quantum computers.
  • Debug and support the full control stack, including real-time embedded kernels and distributed services.
  • Build tooling that enables physicists and hardware engineers to run experiments independently.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Create and maintain Python packages with C++ or Rust extensions in a Linux-native environment.
  • Work with time-series data, SQL and non-relational databases, and real-time image analysis and object detection from live quantum systems.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of backend software engineering experience.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a field where coding is central to solving quantitative problems.
  • Production-tested Python experience and hands-on C++ or Rust experience; experience with all three is strongly advantageous.
  • Strong engineering discipline, including comprehensive testing, revision control, operational reliability, maintainable systems, documentation, and code health.
  • Experience with scientific or experimental data pipelines, including NumPy, SciPy, PyTorch, time-series storage, and ETL.
  • A science or mathematics background, or verifiable experience working with scientists to translate research requirements into production software.
  • Ability to discuss physics effectively with scientists.
  • Familiarity with statistics, machine learning, or AMO physics is advantageous; real-time image analysis and object detection experience is highly valued.
