- Design, implement, and operate telemetry collection and processing services across Dataverse, Service Fabric, Kubernetes, and Finance and Operations.
- Own event schemas, filtering, transformation, routing, ingestion latency, completeness, delivery guarantees, and recovery from delayed or failed delivery.
- Build resilience using buffering, backpressure, retries, circuit breakers, dependency isolation, automated tests, load testing, and controlled fault injection.
- Enforce privacy, security, least-privilege access, auditing, data residency, regional, EU Data Boundary, and sovereign cloud requirements.
- Improve Azure Data Explorer ingestion, query performance, storage efficiency, retention, capacity management, and deployment automation.
- Instrument platform health, participate in on-call and incident response, perform root-cause analysis, and deliver lasting reliability improvements.
- Partner with service teams on instrumentation, onboarding, query design, operational readiness, documentation, and engineering reviews.
- Build AI-assisted diagnostics and Model Context Protocol integrations that help engineers discover telemetry, generate queries, and correlate evidence safely.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree and 6+ years of experience, or a bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals in data structures, concurrency, asynchronous processing, automated testing, and production performance and reliability diagnosis.
- Experience with distributed data processing or telemetry pipelines, including ingestion, buffering, retries, partitioning, data quality, and throughput-latency-cost tradeoffs.
- Production experience with C#, Go, Java, C++, or another modern programming language.
- Experience operating services, including on-call ownership, live-site debugging, and post-incident improvement.
- Hands-on Azure Data Explorer and KQL experience, including ingestion, query optimization, retention policies, and shared analytics capacity management.
- Experience with Geneva, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or comparable observability platforms.
- Experience operating services on Kubernetes or Service Fabric, building stream-processing or data lake pipelines, and automating Azure infrastructure and deployments.
- Familiarity with multi-tenant cloud platforms, privacy-aware data handling, regional data residency, sovereign cloud operations, capacity planning, and telemetry cost optimization.
- Experience building AI-assisted developer tools, MCP integrations, or incident investigation automation with output evaluation, access controls, and operational safeguards.
