Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable, reliable backend services for high-volume Digital Banking platforms.
- Lead distributed systems design involving service decomposition, asynchronous communication, fault tolerance, idempotency, backpressure, consistency trade-offs, and graceful degradation.
- Build Java microservices, REST APIs, batch jobs, and event-driven workflows.
- Contribute to workflow implementations and promote workflow orchestration best practices.
- Participate hands-on in architecture, design, development, code quality, delivery execution, and operational readiness.
- Ensure platforms are extensible, scalable, observable, reliable, and aligned with SLAs.
- Design testable, maintainable, intuitive solutions that engineering teams can operate effectively.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and engineering discussions for key components and enterprise initiatives.
- Translate business capabilities into secure, performant, and maintainable technical solutions with stakeholders.
- Mentor, coach, and influence engineers while helping resolve complex technical problems and raising engineering standards.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of software development experience.
- Strong hands-on backend engineering experience with Java and its frameworks.
- Extensive experience building distributed applications and operating scalable, low-latency services in complex enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, JSON, XML, service contracts, integration patterns, and API lifecycle practices.
- Hands-on experience with Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, JUnit, JDBC, Gradle or Maven, Jenkins, and modern CI/CD practices.
- Experience with Kafka or similar streaming and event-driven technologies; Kafka Streams experience is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of distributed systems, caching, high availability techniques, multithreading, and performance analysis.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
- Commitment to continuous integration, automated and repeatable testing, secure coding practices, and collaborative engineering.
- Ability to reason abstractly, solve ambiguous problems, and make pragmatic technical decisions that enable business capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaboration across engineering, product, architecture, and operations.
- Experience mentoring, coaching, and influencing engineers while remaining hands-on with design and development.
- A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
