Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable microservices and tooling for Okta’s Continuous Delivery platform, including Spinnaker, Terraform, and custom components.
- Build APIs and automation for infrastructure provisioning, production changes, application deployments, and self-service operational workflows.
- Architect and implement reliable, scalable, and secure Continuous Delivery pipelines and Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code workflows.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-tested automation software primarily in Java, Python, or Go.
- Collaborate with DevOps, SRE, and Product teams to identify operational bottlenecks and develop scalable automation solutions.
- Apply software engineering, testing, deployment, and security best practices throughout the tooling lifecycle.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance while influencing the team’s technical roadmap.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional software development experience focused on automation tools, platforms, or cloud microservices.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with Java, Go, Python, or similar backend languages building scalable platform components or automation.
- Experience with backend microservices and distributed services is preferred.
- Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code principles and practical experience with Terraform.
- Experience developing Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery platforms, including Spinnaker or similar tools.
- Understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes and ECS from a software development perspective.
- Proficiency with Docker and experience building applications that interact with Linux and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with database technologies such as MySQL or MongoDB in application development and operational management.
- Strong communication, collaboration, leadership, and problem-solving skills in a software development context.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
