Base Salary
$177k - $262k/yr
Responsibilities
- Act as a project or system leader, coordinating engineers and determining technical tasks.
- Lead the design and architecture of scalable cloud-native backend systems.
- Define and drive the technical roadmap in alignment with business goals.
- Architect and develop large-scale backend systems using Python, Django, or Flask.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship while improving engineering standards and processes.
- Design fault-tolerant, highly available systems with strong disaster recovery capabilities.
- Apply secure coding, encryption, and access-control practices to support compliance and data protection.
- Collaborate with Product, Infrastructure, Operations, design, and data science teams.
- Represent PayPal in technical interactions with partners, customers, and industry organizations.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and reliable backend software.
- Experience designing and optimizing large-scale, high-performance systems.
- Hands-on experience with Python and Django or Flask.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Familiarity with payments, financial systems, or relevant regulatory environments is preferred.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum software development is preferred.
- Contributions to open-source projects or developer communities are preferred.
