Responsibilities
- Build highly available, secure, distributed systems.
- Build infrastructure solutions that improve development experience across the company and help engineering teams solve infrastructure problems.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain systems representing logistics entities such as shippers, clients, cargo, documents, carriers, containers, and email.
- Collaborate with engineers on complex business and technical problems.
- Work with business partners and product managers to turn complex business problems into technical solutions.
- Build and launch products rapidly and incrementally.
- Maintain product quality by monitoring metrics and applying post-mortem learnings across services.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of software development experience and a strong engineering background.
- At least 2 years of design and architecture knowledge, including object-oriented analysis and design patterns.
- Knowledge of at least one of TypeScript, Ruby, C, C++, Java, or Kotlin.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience building large-scale, high-performance systems in complex, multi-tiered, distributed environments.
- Understanding of performance tradeoffs, load balancing, and operational issues.
- Experience with professional software engineering practices across the software development lifecycle.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as CDKTF, Terraform, or AWS CloudFormation.
- Basic knowledge of AWS services including IAM, EC2, ECS, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, and VPC, or equivalent services from other cloud providers.
- Familiarity with infrastructure automation and monitoring or observability tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot and optimize distributed systems and cloud deployments.
- Ability to learn quickly and communicate technical ideas effectively to business partners, product managers, and engineers.
