Responsibilities

  • Design, code, and configure moderate-complexity Agile stories with guidance from senior software engineers.
  • Debug and resolve software issues by identifying root causes and implementing safe fixes.
  • Write automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using modern test automation frameworks.
  • Contribute to Terraform infrastructure and CI/CD pipeline definitions for Azure-based deployments.
  • Support conceptual architecture and design for small-scale software solutions.
  • Perform Git-based source code management, branching, and pull-request hygiene.
  • Participate in code reviews and demonstrate technical solutions to other software engineers.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly by validating, correcting, or overriding generated output.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to more junior software engineers when needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Information Sciences, or a related field.
  • At least four years of software development experience; the posting also states six or more years of total software development experience.
  • At least two years of product experience, with four or more years preferred.
  • At least two years of domain experience, with four or more years preferred.
  • Expertise in object-oriented design, Java or .NET development, relational OLTP queries, and relational database design.
  • Experience with XML/XSLT, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS.
  • Working knowledge of Azure cloud infrastructure and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks such as Playwright or Pester.
  • Expertise in at least one Duck Creek product area, including Policy, Billing, Claims, Engagement, or Data Insights.
  • Practical experience using AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code.
  • Ability to estimate, analyze, and execute software product development lifecycle activities using Agile methodology.
  • Insurance domain knowledge and the ability to communicate, manage deadlines, and work independently with guidance.
