Base Salary
$204k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own Render's core network infrastructure across multiple data centers and cloud providers
- Design and build customer-facing networking capabilities for service connectivity, communication, and traffic routing
- Investigate complex networking issues across the kernel, data plane, distributed systems, and edge networking
- Drive performance and reliability improvements through profiling and tuning
- Partner with engineers across the company to build a stable, predictable, and secure platform
- Participate in the on-call rotation and improve incident detection, response, and learning
Requirements
- At least six years of experience building and operating large-scale networking or infrastructure systems
- Experience with Kubernetes networking internals, including kube-proxy, CNI plugins, and service routing, or similar container networking technology
- Production experience with Linux networking internals, including routing, netfilter/iptables/nftables, and conntrack
- Experience building and operating large-scale traffic routing systems such as load balancers, ingress systems, or proxies
- Strong experience designing, debugging, and operating distributed systems
- Experience planning and executing high-risk changes with minimal downtime
- Preferred experience with data center or hybrid cloud networking, including BGP, AWS Direct Connect, Arista, or Juniper
- Preferred experience with eBPF or advanced Linux kernel networking
- Preferred experience developing systems in Go or similar languages that interact with low-level operating-system and networking primitives
