Responsibilities
- Develop and implement scalable applications that automate the generation of Zoox’s safety metrics.
- Collaborate with software engineers and PMs to design, build, test, and enhance application features.
- Optimize application latency, CPU and memory usage, and database queries.
- Contribute to tools used in Zoox’s safety evaluation processes under the mentorship of a senior engineer.
Requirements
- Be actively enrolled in a two-year or four-year college program pursuing a degree or certificate in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Have exposure to SQL, Spark, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, or Python.
- Have experience with a front-end UI framework such as Vue, React, or Svelte, or a web framework such as Flask or FastAPI.
- Be comfortable using Google Suite or Microsoft Office and willing to learn JIRA or Confluence.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred qualifications include familiarity with Java, Kotlin, C, C++, Rust, Linux system protocols, firmware, ECUs, Cursor IDE, GitHub Copilot, or Claude Code.
Benefits
- Six-month contract position at approximately 20 hours per week.
- Employment is through a vendor contracted with Zoox.
