Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain, and support Java-based applications, services, and tools for Prime Brokerage business functions.
  • Analyze business requirements and produce functional, technical, and user interface designs aligned with enterprise architecture and development standards.
  • Develop and support integrations across internal and external systems using RESTful services, MQ, microservices, SSIS workflows, and related integration platforms.
  • Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries and database interactions across relational database platforms.
  • Improve application reliability, scalability, performance, and operational resilience through modernization, tuning, and technical remediation.
  • Resolve escalated incidents, outages, production issues, and business inquiries through technical support.
  • Maintain solution design documentation and provide subject matter expertise throughout the application delivery life cycle.
  • Conduct code reviews, support testing cycles, maintain code quality standards, and participate in Operational Readiness Reviews and gating sign-offs.
  • Apply secure coding practices and enterprise standards, including OWASP Top 10 practices where applicable.
  • Collaborate with business partners, Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, Developers, and other technology stakeholders.
  • Identify cost-effective and strategic solutions that improve efficiency, maintainability, and stakeholder experience.
  • Stay current with Java development, capital markets platforms, cloud, microservices, integration, and application security trends.

Requirements

  • University or postgraduate degree, preferably in computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline, or relevant equivalent experience and knowledge.
  • At least 7 years of professional experience as a Java Developer, preferably in a financial institution or capital markets environment.
  • Strong experience with Java 8 or later, object-oriented programming, software design, and production-grade application development.
  • Experience with Spring, RESTful services, microservices architecture, unit testing, and code quality tools such as SonarQube or similar.
  • Experience with front-end technologies such as Angular or React.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with relational database management systems.
  • Experience with version control tools such as Git or similar.
  • Experience designing scalable applications and supporting production systems in a regulated enterprise environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Preferred experience includes Capital Markets, Prime Brokerage, Securities Lending, Secured Funding, FIX, SWIFT, Kafka, SSIS, AutoSys, JIRA, enterprise scheduling, cloud development on AWS, Azure, or GCP, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, JBoss, Python, or R.
