Responsibilities

  • Own execution of the Executive Team’s technical strategy by converting high-level goals into milestones and scalable system designs.
  • Build prototypes, core libraries, and foundational projects while establishing technical standards across the organization.
  • Lead design reviews focused on failure modes, scalability, performance, backward compatibility, and verification.
  • Evolve Node.js microservices running on EKS and AWS while reducing technical debt and improving efficiency.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to clarify requirements and ensure implementation matches the intended vision.
  • Design and improve the data lifecycle from IoT ingestion through storage and processing.
  • Implement observability and monitoring standards to improve platform uptime and reliability.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • 4+ years in an architectural leadership role such as Principal Engineer, Staff Engineer, or equivalent, owning technical standards and design quality across multiple teams.
  • Experience creating documented architectural patterns and designs that teams can implement independently.
  • Deep expertise operating and evolving mature distributed systems and microservices environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with JavaScript, Node.js, RabbitMQ, HTTP, AWS, EKS, and Aurora PostgreSQL in service-based architectures.
  • Strong data architecture experience with high-volume, real-time, IoT, or event-driven systems.
  • Experience improving reliability and performance at scale through observability, monitoring, and fault tolerance.
  • Ability to influence across teams and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
