Responsibilities
- Participate in design discussions with engineering leadership, product owners, and solution architects.
- Take features from requirements and scoping through launch on the cloud platform.
- Design and document requirements, features, and APIs.
- Develop maintainable backend software with appropriate automated tests and safe deployment practices.
- Collaborate with UI, QA, and SRE teams on integration testing, observability, incident response, troubleshooting, and reliability.
- Apply practical testing strategies and involve QA for integration and end-to-end testing.
- Participate in peer reviews, technical discussions, and shared engineering standards.
- Continuously improve engineering skills and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and operating production backend or distributed systems.
- Python experience preferred; strong candidates with Java, Go, or similar backend languages are considered.
- Hands-on experience with serverless and compute services from a major cloud provider.
- Fluency with infrastructure as code and ownership of deployments end to end.
- Understanding of event-driven architecture, distributed-systems failure modes, and idempotent or retry-safe design.
- Strong testing discipline and experience writing clean, maintainable, well-covered code.
- Experience with on-call operations, observability or monitoring, and incident response.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across multiple repositories and services.
- Video, streaming, media, HLS, SRT, RTMP, transcoding, or live-encoder experience is useful but not required.
- Experience with GPU-accelerated encoding, media-server or encoder API integration, multi-tenant SaaS, or multi-region deployments is useful.
- Experience with OpenTelemetry, blue-green or canary releases, AMI or image build tooling, EC2 fleet lifecycle management, Python packaging, schema libraries, and static-analysis tooling is useful.
