Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable backend microservices for the evertz.io SaaS platform.
- Design and deliver features for the Mediator enterprise product across a large Java codebase.
- Own features from requirements scoping through production launch.
- Investigate and resolve complex production issues by tracing distributed failures, analyzing logs, profiling performance bottlenecks, and leading post-incident investigations.
- Participate in architecture and technical design discussions with product owners, engineering leads, and stakeholders.
- Write high-quality, tested, and maintainable code.
- Use Claude and GitHub Copilot for structured prompting, iterative refinement, AI-assisted debugging, and development.
- Review, test, and harden AI-generated code for correctness, scalability, security, thread safety, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with QA on automated log analysis and testing workflows.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience in a strongly typed language.
- Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, and scalable backend development.
- Proficiency with AI coding tools such as Claude or GitHub Copilot and the ability to validate generated code.
- Expertise in AWS, cloud-native applications, microservices architecture, and serverless technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and SQS.
- Familiarity with prompt engineering and MCP servers.
- Strong knowledge of concurrency, data structures, design patterns, and object-oriented programming.
- Experience building distributed systems, real-time processing platforms, or large-scale backend services.
- Experience with production debugging, monitoring, and incident investigation.
- Comfort working in large and complex codebases.
- Useful additional experience includes Java frameworks, Gradle, JUnit, Mockito, Jenkins, Git, CodePipeline, and broadcast, media, or real-time systems.
- Strong analytical, debugging, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, ownership, and accountability skills.
