Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end feature delivery for Wallet, Billing, and Taxes, including API design, backend implementation, and required Vue.js frontend changes.
- Build and maintain stable, performant, and scalable backend services using Node.js, MongoDB, and distributed-systems patterns.
- Diagnose and resolve systemic reliability issues such as crashes, timeouts, race conditions, and memory leaks.
- Improve performance and cost efficiency through query tuning, caching, indexing, and cloud-spend reduction.
- Reduce technical debt through refactoring, improved test coverage, and removal of anti-patterns.
- Implement security practices including input validation, authentication flows, secrets management, and rate limiting.
- Improve production observability with logs, metrics, alerts, and tracing.
- Collaborate with QA, review test cases, participate in QA handoffs, and resolve feedback.
- Develop internal tooling and automation to accelerate development and deployment.
- Pair with engineers, share knowledge, help unblock teammates, participate in on-call, and resolve production incidents.
- Write production code and directly own the stability and scalability of Wallet platform services.
Requirements
- 4–7 years of backend engineering experience with exposure to high-throughput, large-dataset, or multi-tenant systems.
- Expert-level Node.js experience and a strong record of writing clean, modular, reusable code.
- Deep MongoDB experience, including complex schemas, aggregation pipelines, indexing, and sharding.
- Production experience with Redis for caching, rate limiting, pub/sub, and distributed locks.
- Hands-on experience building and operating microservices on Kubernetes, including deployments, services, and ConfigMaps.
- Strong hands-on experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure and managed services for containers, queues, caches, serverless workloads, and databases.
- Ability to contribute to modern frontend applications using Vue.js, React, or Angular.
- Experience shipping and supporting large-scale, mission-critical systems under heavy load.
- Preferred: experience with AI tools, open-source contributions, internal platforms, or engineering blogs.
- Preferred: NestJS or Express.js experience.
- Preferred: Elasticsearch experience for search and filtering.
- Preferred: exposure to OLAP systems such as ClickHouse, Snowflake, or BigQuery.
