Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement software testing strategies, methods, and best practices for regulated NGS analytics and instrument software products.
  • Lead and mentor bioinformatics and software test engineers.
  • Establish software quality standards and KPI metrics and implement quality tracking tools and methodologies.
  • Lead automated and manual smoke, regression, API, user-interface, web-service, performance, load, and stress testing.
  • Manage project testing, verification, and validation activities in partnership with software, bioinformatics, project, and functional leadership.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders on regulated assay and software requirements and help development teams understand informatics and visualization requirements.
  • Serve as a point of contact for external partners delivering software products.

Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD preferred, or bachelor’s degree with at least six years of work experience and a strong industry productivity record.
  • At least six years of experience performing software verification and validation testing, preferably in medical-device or biotechnology environments.
  • Strong understanding of NGS-based regulated software, IVD assay development practices, and informatics data-analysis pipelines.
  • Extensive experience leading software quality engineering and assurance teams, including cross-functional or multi-site teams preferred.
  • Practical experience leading modern software development methodologies and directing resources to meet department goals.
  • Understanding of design control for regulated products and applicable IVD and medical-device software regulations and standards, including ISO 13485, IEC 62304, and 21 CFR 820.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior leadership and in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
