Base Salary
$174k - $229k/yr
Responsibilities
- Contribute to machine learning and artificial intelligence research applicable to Pinterest problems.
- Collect, analyze, and synthesize data findings to build intelligent data-driven models.
- Design, build, test, and maintain machine learning models for ranking, engagement prediction, recommendations, search, discovery, advertising, and notifications.
- Use machine learning, natural language processing, and graph analysis to solve modeling and ranking problems.
- Build content recommendation systems for push, email, and in-app notifications.
- Work on large-scale applied machine learning projects and independently solve moderately complex problems.
- Write clean, efficient, and sustainable code.
Requirements
- PhD in Computer Science, machine learning, natural language processing, statistics, information sciences, or a related field.
- Experience with machine learning, including ranking, computer vision, natural language processing, content recommendations, embeddings, or information retrieval.
- Experience with big-data technologies such as Hadoop or Spark and scalable real-time systems that process stream data.
- Mastery of at least one systems language—Java, C++, or Python—or one machine learning framework—TensorFlow, PyTorch, or MLflow.
- Proficiency with AI-native engineering, including designing agent-friendly codebases and using AI-assisted development tools.
- Ability to validate AI-generated suggestions for correctness, performance, security, and maintainability, and to refine prompts and workflows.
- Experience conducting research and solving analytical problems, with strong communication, collaboration, and open-ended problem-solving skills.
- Preferred qualifications include publications in machine learning, AI, data science, data analytics, statistics, or related technical fields, and interest in applying ML to impactful real-world problems.
