Responsibilities
- Complete a variety of challenging software development projects.
- Improve the scalability, performance, and efficiency of proprietary low-latency trading systems.
- Contribute to proprietary trading algorithms and trading tools supporting all stages of the high-performance trading system.
- Learn to design and architect trading systems for scale and support the large volumes of data flowing through Virtu’s systems.
- Participate in ongoing training, a company-curated global training week, mentoring, and team activities.
Requirements
- Rising junior students or students expected to be ready for full-time employment between December 2026 and June 2027.
- Excellent academic background in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills in Python and either Java or C++.
- Experience with JavaScript is a plus.
- Some lower-level programming experience is a plus but not required.
- Outstanding quantitative problem-solving skills and mathematical aptitude.
- Comfort working across frontend and backend projects and different programming languages.
- Ability to identify issues, create solutions, take initiative, and work independently and collaboratively.
- Applicants must complete an online programming test administered through HackerRank after initial resume screening.
