Responsibilities
- Architect and document end-to-end MCU security software solutions covering secure boot, secure firmware updates, runtime security, and secure execution environments.
- Define cryptographic key-management frameworks and manufacturing-time provisioning configurations.
- Design HSM interfaces and middleware for secure storage, hardware-accelerated cryptography, secure debug, and other boot-time and runtime services.
- Partner with hardware systems engineers to integrate HSM, SHE, and cryptographic accelerator security IP.
- Collaborate with ROM teams on immutable hardware roots of trust and secure first-stage bootloaders.
- Provide architectural oversight, code reviews, technical guidance, and mentorship to junior security software engineers without direct supervisory duties.
- Drive compliance with ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434, and IEC 62443.
- Support embedded software requirements, design, development, testing, integration, customer support, quality assurance, and release management activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- 5–10 years of embedded software development experience using C and Assembly, including at least 5 years dedicated to embedded software security architecture.
- Experience delivering security software for automotive or industrial functional-safety or security environments.
- Deep understanding of microcontroller architectures, ARM Cortex-M/R, RISC-V, TrustZone, MPUs, and Hardware Security Modules.
- Experience implementing boot-time HSM services such as hardware-enforced secure boot, image verification, and key-injection verification.
- Experience implementing runtime HSM services such as cryptographic offloading, SecOC/TLS secure communication stacks, life-cycle state management, and runtime tampering or exception handling.
- Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and translate silicon hardware concepts into actionable software requirements.
- Rust programming experience for embedded systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with Linux, Zephyr, FreeRTOS, or ThreadX is preferred.
