Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural design and implementation of a modular, scalable Python codebase.
- Define software development standards, coding practices, and architectural frameworks.
- Translate technical requirements into robust software architectures with software and engineering stakeholders.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to development teams.
- Oversee integration of software drivers with testing equipment and laboratory instrumentation.
- Design data capture, processing, analysis, and reporting solutions.
- Optimise communication and data-processing workflows between hardware devices, test equipment, and networked systems.
- Support troubleshooting of complex software and system integration issues.
- Contribute to technical planning, risk management, and architectural reviews.
Requirements
- Extensive professional experience developing software in Python.
- Proven experience designing and implementing scalable, modular software architectures.
- Strong understanding of maintainability, extensibility, testability, and code quality principles.
- Experience defining development standards, coding guidelines, and software frameworks.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience mentoring developers and providing technical leadership.
- Understanding of software integration, data acquisition, and data processing systems.
- Experience in Agile or similar collaborative development environments.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant engineering field, or a relevant technical military background with equivalent hands-on experience.
- Experience with laboratory, testing, or measurement equipment is desirable.
- Knowledge of communication protocols and hardware-device interfacing is desirable.
- Experience with data-driven applications and automated testing environments is desirable.
- Familiarity with software controlling and acquiring data from oscilloscopes, analysers, or similar instrumentation is desirable.
- Experience in engineering, testing, validation, or product development environments is desirable.
