Responsibilities
- Own the reliability, scalability, developer experience, and infrastructure engineering practices of the Data Office platform.
- Design and deliver infrastructure improvements and platform projects using production-quality Terraform.
- Build and support data infrastructure for batch and streaming workloads, ML/AI environments, model serving, GPU-backed compute, and Looker infrastructure.
- Lead architecture discussions, solution design sessions, critical pull-request reviews, and cross-team technical initiatives.
- Mentor Senior and Intermediate SREs and establish high standards for infrastructure as code, observability, and operational discipline.
- Identify risks in data migrations and infrastructure changes and develop mitigation strategies for zero data loss and minimal downtime.
- Participate in agile ceremonies, incident reviews, cross-functional meetings, on-call rotation, and incident response.
- Act as the Data Business Unit’s AI technical expert by evaluating tooling and driving AI-focused development practices.
Requirements
- Deep expertise with GCP infrastructure, including compute, networking, IAM, GKE, data services, and FinOps.
- Strong Terraform and infrastructure-as-code experience.
- Hands-on experience with Looker infrastructure and ML/AI platform tooling, including Vertex AI, model serving, and training pipelines.
- Proficiency in Bash and Golang; Python experience for data tooling is a plus.
- Strong experience with metrics, logs, traces, alerting, and SLO/SLI design, including DataDog.
- Experience with GitHub Actions, CircleCI, and GCP Cloud Build.
- Ability to communicate infrastructure trade-offs to engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to mentor and train other engineers, with a product-oriented and security-first mindset.
