Responsibilities
- Manage software and calibration delivery timing, coordination with vehicle builds, OTA updates, and change management.
- Guide supplier partners through Ford's Global Product Development System and manage supplier and in-house software teams.
- Deliver software change-management work packages, including release documentation, functional validation, and OTA software updates.
- Support driver-assist features and cross-module vehicle network communication implementation.
- Investigate Diagnostic Trouble Code issues and Quality Early Detection findings.
- Support service-manual development, Breadboard/HIL issue resolution, prototype vehicle builds, software flashing, and assembly-plant end-of-line setup.
- Release diagnostics specifications and ensure compliance with central software requirements.
- Lead Software Technical Design Reviews and collaborate with automotive systems-engineering teams on safe, reliable vehicle-control solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- At least 2 years of design or development experience in chassis or powertrain controls.
- At least 5 years applying FMEA and quality-assurance processes, including 8D, 3-Legged 5 Whys, Is/Is-Not analysis, and fishbone diagrams.
- At least 5 years managing multiple supplier and in-house software teams and supporting DVP&R planning, data analysis, and reporting.
- At least 5 years developing solutions for full-vehicle requirements and complex braking-system safety, reliability, and technical issues.
- At least 5 years diagnosing electromechanical systems and leading embedded-control designs using Functional Safety principles.
- At least 5 years designing, developing, and diagnosing embedded systems using vehicle-network protocols, AUTOSAR, and SAE J1979.
- At least 5 years using digital and analog data-acquisition systems, including CANalyzer, for vehicle-software investigation and requirements validation.
- At least 5 years using MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, and SysML for controls modeling, system analysis, data analysis, and requirements verification.
- Preferred qualifications include a master's degree, additional chassis or powertrain-controls experience, CAN familiarity, supplier management and cost negotiation, ISO 26262 experience, sophisticated system-analysis experience, and HIL simulation and testing.
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, learning, and collaboration abilities are preferred.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
