Responsibilities
- Own technical vision and coordinate shared technical direction across multiple engineering teams.
- Contribute to annual and quarterly planning with product managers, engineering managers, and engineers.
- Design scalable and evolvable systems while balancing long-term architecture with near-term delivery.
- Remain hands-on by building, deploying, monitoring, testing, and operating production services.
- Lead observability and reliability practices, including defining SLOs, handling incidents, and conducting blameless post-mortems.
- Mentor engineers through direct mentorship, design reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.
- Coordinate dependencies, unblock delivery, and drive alignment across squads and the broader organization.
- Work with product, design, and operations to understand customer problems and measure product impact.
- Use and contribute to AI-augmented development workflows, including agentic coding and AI-assisted code review.
Requirements
- Proven experience coordinating significant multi-team technical initiatives, managing dependencies, and aligning stakeholders.
- Strong architectural judgment and the ability to articulate a clear technical roadmap.
- Experience owning services throughout their production lifecycle, including monitoring, testing, rollout, and operations.
- Experience working in a complex domain with reliable customer-facing products; flights or travel experience is preferred, with fintech or similarly constrained domains also relevant.
- Backend-heavy full-stack engineering experience, with comfort working across backend and frontend systems.
- Experience leading observability and reliability practices, defining SLOs, handling incidents, and conducting blameless post-mortems.
- A track record of mentoring and leveling up engineers through mentorship, design reviews, and technical leadership.
- Experience with or strong interest in AI-augmented development, agentic coding, and AI-assisted code review.
- Ability to learn new tools quickly; experience with Python and AWS is relevant to the current stack.
