Responsibilities

  • Plan, create, manage, and document the overall quality-planning strategy.
  • Improve automated test capabilities through test design and code contributions.
  • Perform automated and manual testing of Ubuntu Desktop, Server, and Core on current hardware.
  • Identify, isolate, document, and triage product bugs and customer issues.
  • Collaborate with development and project teams across multiple projects to improve testing and ensure consistent execution.
  • Identify QA bottlenecks, oversee continuous-improvement projects, and establish proactive quality and reliability measures.
  • Collect quality data and prepare testing estimates and schedules.
  • Communicate with colleagues across time zones and suggest solutions to product problems.

Requirements

  • Experience with the Linux desktop and related technologies; Ubuntu experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of commercial software QA practices and their integration with Linux community standards.
  • Experience with common scripting languages, including Shell script, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Comfort with online collaboration tools and channels such as mailing lists, Mattermost, and wiki.
  • Excellent logic, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Ability to work productively in a globally distributed team and learn new technologies quickly.
