Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, development, integration, and maintenance of embedded firmware for industrial communication solutions.
- Develop communication protocols and reusable communication subsystem frameworks across product platforms.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to firmware engineers.
- Troubleshoot complex communication and networking issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive resolution.
- Ensure quality through requirements traceability, design reviews, testing, compliance standards, and reliable firmware practices.
- Collaborate globally with firmware, systems, hardware, quality, and product management teams.
- Support continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and best practices.
- Stay current with industrial networking, embedded firmware, and cybersecurity technologies.
- Organize and direct activities of other employees while working as both an individual contributor and technical leader.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with a firmware concentration, or equivalent experience; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience developing communication protocols, including analysis, design, programming, and testing of real-time firmware systems.
- Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and scripting languages.
- Desired experience with Green Hills Integrity OS, Multi IDE, TCP/IP networking, Git or similar version-control tools, Achilles, Burp Suite, Jira, and Jama.
- At least seven years of experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity requirements and practices for embedded and industrial products, with cybersecurity training or certification preferred.
- Familiarity with CIP and CIP Security protocols and agile processes such as Scrum and SAFe is desired.
- Ability to develop high-quality, maintainable firmware subsystems or systems productively.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly in verbal and written form and collaborate effectively in a globally distributed, matrixed organization.
