Base Salary
$168k - $212k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve GitHub Actions and deployment pipelines to improve build times and deployment frequency.
- Build and maintain the Backstage developer portal, including the service catalog, golden path templates, and TechDocs integration.
- Create golden path templates for Go, Rails, and Vue.js services.
- Build and maintain internal developer tooling that accelerates engineering workflows.
- Configure and roll out AI-assisted coding tools with organizational guardrails.
- Create self-service capabilities that let teams move from requesting a new service to running it in staging in under four hours.
- Drive adoption of platform capabilities through documentation and developer education.
- Work with the SRE team to instrument and measure developer experience metrics such as build times, deployment frequency, and MTTR.
- Implement security and compliance automation without slowing engineering teams.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
- At least 3 years of experience building developer tooling, CI/CD systems, or infrastructure automation.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms, with GitHub Actions strongly preferred.
- Experience with developer portals or internal platform tooling; Backstage is strongly preferred, with Cortex or Port also valuable.
- Experience with Kubernetes deployments and container orchestration.
- Proficiency in at least two programming languages.
- Frontend development skills for building portal UI and developer-facing tools.
- Strong systems thinking and ability to design for scale and reliability.
- Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform or CDK is a plus.
- Experience with feature management systems such as LaunchDarkly or Split is a plus.
- Familiarity with workflow engines such as Temporal is a plus.
- Background in developer productivity metrics and measurement is a plus.
- Experience configuring or rolling out AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor is a plus.
