Responsibilities
- Work with senior architects to design cloud and AI solutions for County services.
- Create system diagrams and apply architecture patterns under the AI-DLC framework.
- Develop AWS-based architecture designs and explain design decisions.
- Support real-world technology modernization projects for County of San Diego services.
Requirements
- US citizenship is required.
- High school diploma and some advanced-level training are required.
- Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student who has completed progress toward or is pursuing a degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, or a related field.
- Understanding of software design and cloud computing fundamentals is required.
- Ability to create technical diagrams and explain design decisions is required.
- Upper-level undergraduate or graduate standing is preferred.
- AWS Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect Associate certification is preferred.
- Familiarity with microservices, serverless, event-driven architecture, AI-DLC, infrastructure as code, or AWS AI services is preferred.
- Prior software development internship experience is preferred.
Benefits
- Full-time, 40-hour-per-week summer internship lasting 10 weeks from June 2027 through August 2027.
- Hybrid work arrangement based in San Diego, California.
- Hourly base pay of $28–38 per hour.
- Potential eligibility for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus.
