Responsibilities
- Work with senior architects to design cloud and AI solutions for County of San Diego services.
- Create system diagrams and apply architecture patterns to AWS-based designs under the AI-DLC framework.
- Explain architecture and design decisions to project stakeholders.
- Support real-world projects modernizing County services and technology delivery.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- High school diploma and some advanced-level training are required.
- Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student who has completed progress toward or is pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field; upper-level undergraduate or graduate students are preferred.
- Understanding of software design and cloud computing fundamentals is required.
- Ability to create technical diagrams and explain design decisions is required.
- AWS Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect Associate certification is preferred.
- Familiarity with microservices, serverless, and event-driven architecture patterns is preferred.
- Exposure to AI-DLC, infrastructure as code, or AWS AI services is preferred.
- Prior software development internship experience is preferred.
Benefits
- Hybrid work arrangement based in San Diego, California.
- 40 hours per week from January 2027 through August 2027.
