Responsibilities
- Own the long-term technical roadmap for dexterous manipulation, hand control, and multi-fingered coordination.
- Design and enforce scalable software frameworks balancing autonomous control with high-fidelity teleoperation.
- Integrate state-of-the-art learning-based policies and vision-integrated systems into robotic manipulation software.
- Lead high-fidelity simulation and sim-to-real validation strategies for physical robot deployment.
- Influence next-generation robotic hand hardware specifications, including sensing, degrees of freedom, and torque profiles.
- Oversee the transition of experimental research into reliable fleet-wide production software using C++ and Python.
- Provide technical leadership, establish architectural standards, conduct code reviews, and mentor robotics engineers.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in multi-fingered hand control, grasp planning, and in-hand manipulation with successful hardware deployments.
- Proficiency in learning-based robotic control, including flow- or diffusion-based visuomotor policies, reinforcement learning, and reward modeling.
- Proficiency in Python and experience building real-time robotic software stacks.
- Experience with physics simulation environments such as IsaacSim, MuJoCo, or Drake.
- Strong foundations in robotic kinematics, spatial transformations, Jacobian-based control, and constrained optimization are preferred.
- Experience with VR or haptic interfaces, teleoperation retargeting, tactile or haptic sensing, computer vision, or high-degree-of-freedom end-effector bring-up is preferred.
- Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience, or 3 years with a PhD, focused on robotic manipulation or complex motion control.
- Proven ability to take algorithms from research or simulation environments and deploy them successfully on physical hardware.
