Base Salary
$157k - $215k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement low-latency, high-throughput Java Spring Boot distributed services with strong APIs.
- Design resilient, highly available cloud-native architectures using AWS compute, messaging, streaming, database, and storage services.
- Develop infrastructure-as-code solutions with Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
- Implement observability, alerting, monitoring, and reporting with Datadog, Dynatrace, and Splunk.
- Translate ambiguous requirements into stable service designs and communicate engineering tradeoffs.
- Lead technical design reviews and establish standards for operability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Own production outcomes by resolving performance, reliability, and scalability issues through automation and runbook-driven operations.
- Partner with machine learning engineers and data scientists to deliver production-ready platform solutions.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance.
- Drive governed, responsible adoption of AI-assisted coding, code review, testing, release readiness, and incident-analysis practices.
Requirements
- Formal software engineering training or certification and 5+ years of applied experience.
- Very strong Java development skills, object-oriented programming experience, and significant Spring Boot experience.
- Experience designing and tuning low-latency production distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services including MSK/Kafka, SQS, S3, ECS, EKS, Lambda, Kinesis Video/Data Streams, RDS, DynamoDB, and Redshift.
- Production experience with Datadog, Dynatrace, and/or Splunk for alerting, monitoring, and reporting.
- Strong API design, testing, debugging, and software engineering fundamentals.
- Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages, with heavy emphasis on Java.
- Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Ability to communicate engineering tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience leading enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools and validating their outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure input and output handling, resiliency, security controls, and compliant usage coaching.
- Preferred experience includes advanced AWS managed services, real-time Kinesis processing, observability automation, continuous integration and delivery, infrastructure-as-code, and containerized deployments.
