Base Salary
$157k - $215k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement low-latency, high-throughput Java Spring Boot distributed services with strong APIs and production-grade performance.
- Design resilient, highly available AWS service architectures using compute, messaging, streaming, database, storage, containers, and serverless services.
- Develop repeatable and auditable infrastructure-as-code deployments using Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
- Implement alerting, monitoring, reporting, and observability across microservices using Datadog, Dynatrace, and Splunk.
- Translate ambiguous requirements into stable service designs and communicate engineering tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Lead technical design reviews, engineering standards, best-practice adoption, and platform operability improvements.
- Own production outcomes by resolving performance, reliability, and scalability issues through automation and runbook-driven operations.
- Partner with machine learning engineers and data scientists to deliver production-ready platform solutions.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance across the team.
- Lead responsible adoption, governance, validation, and reuse of AI-assisted software development practices.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience.
- Very strong Java and object-oriented programming skills with significant Spring Boot experience.
- Experience designing and tuning low-latency production distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services including MSK/Kafka, SQS, S3, ECS, EKS, Lambda, Kinesis Video/Data Streams, RDS, DynamoDB, and Redshift.
- Production experience implementing alerting, monitoring, and reporting with Datadog, Dynatrace, and/or Splunk.
- Strong API design, testing, debugging, communication, and production engineering fundamentals.
- Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages, with heavy emphasis on Java.
- Strong experience with Docker, Kubernetes, containerization, and orchestration.
- Experience leading enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development practices and validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure input and output handling, resiliency, security expectations, and compliant usage coaching.
- Preferred experience includes advanced AWS managed-service usage, especially Kinesis Video/Data Streams, real-time processing, distributed event handling, observability automation, continuous integration and delivery, infrastructure-as-code, and containerized deployments.
