Responsibilities
- Design, build, and scale distributed backend systems serving millions of users.
- Deliver features end to end from design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and production operation.
- Architect real-time, low-latency APIs and backend services for AI-driven agent pipelines and products.
- Develop reliable, performant, and scalable cloud-native services in Java.
- Build and operate AWS-based infrastructure using Docker and Kubernetes or ECS.
- Design for resiliency, fault tolerance, high availability, failover, and compliance in high-throughput environments.
- Collaborate with product managers, infrastructure engineers, and other teams on production-ready systems.
- Own significant backend components, set technical direction, and contribute to backend and infrastructure engineering practices.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of professional backend engineering experience in Java.
- Proficiency in modern Java 17 or later.
- Knowledge of Java frameworks including Micronaut and Spring.
- Experience designing and scaling backend systems for millions of users or high-throughput real-time services.
- Understanding of cloud-native architectures, AWS or similar platforms, Docker, Kubernetes or ECS, GitOps, and CI/CD.
- Experience with distributed data systems such as Apache Kafka.
- Experience with performance tuning and scaling in high-throughput environments.
- Strong background in high-availability systems, failover, and resiliency design.
- Exposure to LLM integration, including prompting, evaluation, and observability.
- Proficiency with AI tools for software development.
- Knowledge of observability practices including logging, monitoring, tracing, and metrics.
- Strong English communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly.
- Curiosity and willingness to learn and adapt.
