Base Salary
$182k - $247k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set the technical direction for Lakebase Manager and own the quality and reliability of the team’s deliverables.
- Drive architecture and design while writing code for the most difficult parts of projects.
- Establish technical standards through architecture reviews, testing, and engineering practices.
- Mentor engineers and lead design reviews, code reviews, and development of distributed-systems skills.
- Define SLIs, meet SLOs, and deliver long-term reliability improvements across the database lifecycle.
- Lead cross-team initiatives across the Lakebase stack, coordinating dependencies and unblocking cross-cutting projects.
- Partner with engineering and product leadership to shape and deliver the long-term technical roadmap.
- Build and operate control-plane functionality for database creation and deletion, wake-up and suspension, hot-standby compute, and high-availability failover.
Requirements
- 8+ years designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems, including testing, monitoring, and SLI/SLO processes.
- Demonstrated technical leadership as an individual contributor, setting architecture and direction through influence without formal management authority.
- Strong hands-on experience designing systems and writing production code for large-scale distributed services.
- Experience operating reliability-critical, highly available services, including on-call, incident response, and high-availability or failover systems.
- Ability to balance short-term delivery with long-term stability while working toward a multi-year vision.
- Ability to align multiple stakeholders with competing priorities and focus on customer value.
- Proficiency in Go, Rust, or a similar systems language; PostgreSQL and Kubernetes experience is a plus.
- BS or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
