Responsibilities

Develop board-level and system/product-level embedded software for solar, battery, and storage products.
Design and document firmware architectures in collaboration with hardware and systems engineers.
Develop sensor drivers, closed-loop control algorithms, and real-time firmware.
Test and troubleshoot prototype hardware and firmware with and without external test equipment.
Carry designs from concept through implementation, verification, documentation, and production launch.
Document engineering requirements, solutions, and firmware test results using specified requirements tools.
Investigate customer and field issues after product launch for product improvements.
Mentor junior engineers across residential and commercial product domains.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with 12+ years of relevant non-academic experience, or a master’s degree with 8+ years of experience.
Expertise in C for real-time applications, bare-metal development, and real-time operating systems.
Proficiency in Python for automating software development workflows.
Experience testing both firmware and hardware, including use of oscilloscopes and power meters.
Familiarity with software development processes, Atlassian Cloud tools, GitHub configuration management, GCC, GDB, Eclipse, and GNU Make.
Experience developing sensor drivers, closed-loop control algorithms, and production-scale products.
Ability to document requirements and solutions and verify new firmware designs.
Preferred experience with ARM Cortex-M4/M7, STM32, Zephyr RTOS, bootloader design, AC grid simulators, DC-to-AC inverters, cooling-system controls, and battery management systems.
Preferred knowledge of UL and IEC electrical standards, advanced grid functions, and fault conditions.
