Base Salary

$75k - $245k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate requirements, propose solutions, and explore design tradeoffs.
  • Design algorithms and develop embedded software for resource-constrained, real-time targets.
  • Develop and execute software tests to verify compliance with requirements.
  • Lead the technical effort for independent verification and validation of safety-critical guidance-system software.
  • Create test plans and requirement verification test matrices and identify alternative verification methods.
  • Interpret changes to concepts of operations and system designs and map them to expected software changes for verification.
  • Analyze test results, identify problem causes, and develop corrective solutions.
  • Identify program- and system-level technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including procedures, reports, drawings, manuals, and other engineering data.
  • Communicate requirements, designs, and deliverables to customers and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to requirements development and architecture solution ideation.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers and take responsibility for a defined portion of engineering scope.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5–10 years of experience in software engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with design, development, or integration and test of safety-critical systems and understanding of the software verification and validation process within the system lifecycle.
  • Strong embedded-target development and troubleshooting skills, including real-time systems, operating-system coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces, and hardware subsystems.
  • Mastery of high-level development languages such as C/C++ and Rust.
  • Experience with UML/SysML, software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, peer review processes, in-circuit emulators, JTAG debuggers, and laboratory test equipment.
  • Preferred experience with C, Python, MATLAB, Simulink, PowerPC assembly, and SIMICs.
  • Ability to work independently, solve complex problems, manage technical risks, meet deadlines, and mentor junior staff.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance; Secret clearance is preferred.
