Base Salary
$200k - $311k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set technical strategy and multi-year roadmaps for complex platforms and services used across Amazon.
- Design and architect reliable, scalable, distributed systems operating at massive scale.
- Decompose ambiguous technical problems into maintainable solutions and drive execution across teams.
- Lead design and code reviews, improve operational excellence, and raise engineering standards.
- Influence technical direction across engineering, product, and science organizations.
- Improve how builders develop, build, test, deploy, and operate software, including through Generative AI and agentic development.
- Mentor senior and principal-track engineers and help grow technical leaders.
Requirements
- Extensive professional software development experience with significant experience designing and architecting large-scale systems.
- Experience designing and building large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed, or highly concurrent software systems and services.
- Deep expertise in software design patterns, reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.
- Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, C++, or C#.
- Experience leading technical direction across multiple teams and influencing decisions beyond a single team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred qualifications include Principal Engineer or equivalent technical leadership experience, developer-facing platform experience, Generative AI or agentic development experience, AWS experience, mentoring experience, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
