Base Salary

$200k - $260k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Set the technical direction and evolve the warehouse, data lake, ETL/ELT architecture, processing, table formats, orchestration, and query-engine strategy.
  • Design, operate, and scale data platforms processing terabytes of data and millions to billions of events per day.
  • Drive critical data projects end-to-end, including design documents, rapid v0 releases, and iterative improvements.
  • Own data reliability, quality, governance, and the tradeoffs among cost, latency, correctness, and operability.
  • Build and rearchitect patient-data consolidation, customer data delivery, customer ingestion, and document-processing pipelines.
  • Support AI/ML teams by providing required data, feature pipelines, model inputs and outputs, and unstructured-data extraction.
  • Mentor and multiply engineers through design reviews, code reviews, pairing, onboarding, and technical guidance.
  • Eventually serve as Team Lead by delegating work, unblocking teammates, and owning team delivery while remaining hands-on.
  • Participate in sprint planning, retrospectives, roadmap development, daily stand-up, and the on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of engineering experience building, operating, and scaling data platforms.
  • End-to-end data architecture experience across ingestion, storage, processing, warehousing, and serving.
  • Deep experience with modern cloud-native data stacks, including distributed processing, open table formats, cloud storage, warehouses, dbt, orchestration, and streaming.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and production coding experience in TypeScript and Python.
  • Experience mentoring or guiding engineers through code reviews, pairing, design feedback, or onboarding.
  • Experience leading engineers is a bonus.
  • Experience supporting ML or data-science workflows, including feature pipelines, model inputs and outputs, or unstructured-data extraction, is a bonus.
  • Healthcare experience with standards or technologies such as FHIR, HIE, IHE, EHR/EMR, NPI, TEFCA, ADT, HL7, HEDIS, RAF, SNOMED, LOINC, or ICD-10 is a bonus.
  • Must be located in the San Francisco Bay Area or willing to relocate.
