Sr. Engineer - Architect Software Functional Safety

Responsibilities

Interpret SoC/MCU safety manuals and extract hardware-software interface requirements.
Identify safety-relevant hardware modules such as DMA, Memory Protection Units, and watchdogs.
Align diagnostic coverage and error-handling strategies with System Engineering.
Define fault-propagation paths from hardware fault detection through transition to a defined safe state.
Develop and maintain software architectures that demonstrate achievement of functional safety goals.
Own Software FMEA, Software FTA, and Software Safety Requirements with full architectural traceability.
Independently review and challenge the primary software architecture to protect safety objectives.
Lead teams through safety audits, formal assessments, and external evaluations.
Mentor junior engineers on ASIL-compliant coding standards and connect hardware safety features with application software safety.

10+ years of experience in embedded SoC development in complex silicon environments.
3+ years of experience specifically as a Software Architect.
Hands-on experience developing software components that achieved ASIL C or ASIL D certification.
Expert-level understanding of ISO 26262 Parts 4, 6, and 9.
Direct experience participating in and defending architectures during formal safety evaluations or external audits.
Proficiency with safety analysis tools such as Ansys medini analyze, APIS IQ-FMEA, or similar.
Ability to interpret complex safety manuals and translate them into actionable software development tasks.
Strong independent technical judgment and communication skills.
