Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, commission, and maintain software and firmware solutions for assigned tasks or subsystems.
- Translate defined requirements into functional implementations under general guidance from senior or lead engineers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve routine to moderately complex software and control-system issues.
- Support system integration, testing, and field commissioning activities.
- Maintain source code, comments, documentation, and other software artifacts.
- Participate in code reviews and apply established design standards and development practices.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and field-service teams to support project execution.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and standards.
- Perform work according to NOV safety, environmental, and standard operating policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Control Systems Engineering or a related field.
- 3–5 years of relevant software or firmware development experience.
- Working knowledge of IEC 61131-3 Structured Text and/or C/C++ programming.
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts and general software design practices.
- Basic understanding of industrial automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and field devices.
- Preferred exposure to industrial communication protocols such as Modbus TCP and EtherNet/IP.
- Preferred experience with version control systems and standard development tools.
- Ability to complete a pre-employment drug test and background check.
- Ability to travel up to 25% annually.
- Ability to perform consistent computer work, extended standing, and light lifting up to 50 pounds.
