Base Salary

$225k - $305k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior technical authority for the Lab Notebook and Enterprise Lifecycle teams.
  • Independently architect and implement solutions to complex problems across system architecture, backend models, and frontend UI.
  • Lead large, multi-quarter initiatives by breaking down ambiguous requirements into concrete technical plans.
  • Use technical decision-making to influence engineering strategy and maintain long-term optionality.
  • Act as a force multiplier by raising standards for quality and architecture across the Applications division.
  • Provide technical leadership through code review, architectural guidance, and mentorship.
  • Partner with product management and design to translate customer needs into technical solutions.
  • Explore opportunities to leverage AI and LLMs for improving workflows.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure seamless integration of horizontal systems.
  • Own end-to-end delivery of critical features, including planning, development, and monitoring.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with increasing scope and impact.
  • Experience as a technical lead on significant projects involving multiple engineers.
  • Strong experience building backend systems and APIs for cloud-based web applications.
  • Proven ability to design scalable, robust architectures that align with business requirements.
  • Track record of independently driving initiative-level work that impacts multiple teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for producing clear technical designs.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop other engineers.
  • Interest in learning about life sciences; prior biotech knowledge is a plus.
