Responsibilities
- Design and build high-quality frontend features using React and Next.js, with a focus on performance and user experience.
- Build and maintain backend API services, including RESTful and GraphQL endpoints.
- Own features from design through deployment, including testing, observability, and post-launch monitoring.
- Participate in technical design discussions and provide proposals and tradeoff analysis.
- Debug and troubleshoot issues across frontend and API layers.
- Write maintainable, well-tested code and contribute to code reviews.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through pairing, reviews, and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and engineering teams.
- Identify and address technical debt, performance issues, and reliability gaps.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong frontend focus.
- Expertise with React and Next.js, including SSR, SSG, App Router, and client/server component patterns.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and experience with Tailwind CSS, component libraries, Zustand, Redux Toolkit, or equivalent tools.
- Experience with Zod or similar schema-validation libraries.
- Ability to design and build RESTful and GraphQL APIs with strong API contract, error-handling, and type-safety knowledge.
- Experience deploying frontend applications on AWS using CloudFront, Lambda@Edge or CloudFront Functions, S3, API Gateway, and Lambda.
- Knowledge of frontend performance techniques including code splitting, lazy loading, caching strategies, SWR, React Query, and Core Web Vitals.
- Experience debugging with browser developer tools, network inspection, and log analysis.
- Experience with unit testing using Vitest or Jest, component testing with Testing Library, and end-to-end testing with Playwright or Cypress.
- Clear communication and comfort discussing technical decisions with teammates and stakeholders.
- Preferred qualifications include financial-services, banking, or insurance experience; Turborepo, Nx, Vite, or esbuild experience; AWS EventBridge, SQS, or SNS experience; design-system or component-library development; React Native or cross-platform mobile development; GenAI tooling integration; and AWS certifications.
